High Commissioner met H.E Justus Kinywa Mugo, Deputy Governor of Embu County on 21 September 2026. They discussed opportunities to strengthen India-Embu cooperation, including in agriculture and agro-processing, healthcare, capacity building and trade & investment, as well as greater engagement between Indian businesses and Embu County.

High Commissioner called on Governor of Laikipia County, H.E. Joshua Irungu. They exchanged views on expanding India's engagement with Laikipia County, with discussions covering agriculture, healthcare, development cooperation, capacity building and opportunities for stronger commercial and investment linkages between Indian and Kenya

High Commissioner visited Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) and met Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, Vice Chancellor and his team. Discussions ertained to opportunities for strengthening academic and institutional linkages between MUST and Indian Universities, particularly in the fields of agricultural research, information technology, cement science, capacity-building, among others. They also decided to have closer engagement between the University and Indian High Commission in cultural and other fields.

During the visit, the High Commissioner also inaugurated an India Corner at the University, providing a dedicated space for students to learn more about India, its culture, education, development journey and opportunities for academic exchange. High Commissioner expressed appreciation to the University for already making available Indian books in online mode as part of its library resources.

Indian community in Meru organized a welcome ceremony for the High Commissioner at the temple complex. High Commissioner had an engaging interaction with members of Indian diaspora on the growing India-Kenya partnership and Government of India's recent initiatives for Indian diaspora, including e-OCI cards, e-immigration facilities, the first-ever Girmitiya Games, the Viksit Bharat run, among others. High Commissioner expressed appreciation for the community's longstanding contribution to Meru and Kenya's socio-economic development. The interactive session also provided an opportunity to address a wide range of consular queries, hear suggestions from community members, and discuss ways to further strengthen engagement between the High Commission and the Meru diaspora.
