OVERSEAS CITIZEN OF INDIA (OCI) CARDHOLDER

NEW OCI REGISTRATION

Please read the below advise carefully to ensure correct compilation of the documents required for your application.

Printed Application form: All applicants need to fill the online application form on the website https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome

Applications can only be submitted with prior appointments https://hcinairobi.gov.in/getappointment

Important note for all OCI Applicants (Mandatory): Applicants are required to submit the originals along with a set of photocopies of the originals, both sets of documents need to be submitted at the counter. Originals will be returned once the High Commission of India is satisfied with the documents provided. All photocopies need to be self-attested.

Photograph to be affixed on the application should be a square shape of size not less than 51*51mm (with 80% coverage of face). It should have plain light color background without the border with front view of person's head and shoulders showing the full face in middle of the photograph. It should not be stapled and not have any signature. The same photograph should be uploaded online together with a clear signature during online application. For minors, their thumb impression should be uploaded.

All applicants are required to visit the High Commission in person. Third party submissions are not allowed

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS FOR AN OCI APPLICATION:

1. 1. ON THE BASIS OF SELF/PREVIOUS INDIAN PASSPORT HOLDER

• i) Current Passport, if not Kenyan, applicant to provide proof of residence
• Old Indian passport
• Renunciation/surrender certificate
• Citizenship certificate
• Marriage certificate
• Copy of spouse passport
• Proof of occupation
• Address proof
• Previous Indian passport holders who held an election/Ration card arev required to surrender them at the time of OCI application. Fill the declaration form Click here.
• All documents mentioned above must be scanned in high resolution and uploaded after filling the online form

2. 2. a) ON THE BASIS OF PARENTS BEING AN INDIAN CITIZEN OR HAVING HELD AN INDIAN PASSPORT BEFORE

• Current Passport (for any other nationality apart from Kenya, applicant to provide proof of residence e.g work permit/PR/Dependent pass)
• Birth Certificate (If not issued from Kenya/India, it should be attested by Indian High Commission in country of birth)
• Current Indian passport of parents or Old Indian passport / Renunciation certificate/Domicile certificate/Nativity Certificate
• Marriage certificate
• Copy of spouse passport
• Proof of occupation
• Address proof
• All documents mentioned above must be scanned in high resolution and uploaded after filling the online form

1. b) ON THE BASIS OF PARENTS (If applicant is a Minor)

• Current Passport (for any other nationality apart from Kenya, applicant to provide proof of residence e.g work permit/PR/Dependent pass)
• Birth Certificate (If not issued from Kenya/India, it should be attested by Indian Mission in country of birth)
• Current passport of both parents (for any other nationality apart from Kenya, parents to provide proof of residence e.g work permit/PR/Dependent pass)
• Current Indian passport of parent or Old Indian passport / Renunciation certificate/Domicile certificate/Nativity Certificate

If one parent is Indian, children are required to renounce the right to Indian citizenship by filling the Miscellaneous Form and Renunciation form. This can be submitted together with the OCI application. A duplicate set of copies and photographs is to be attached and a reccomender’s passport copy(front+back) who should sign the section of other Indian passport holder in the renunciation form.

3. 3. ON THE BASIS OF GRANDPARENTS

• Current Passport (for any other nationality apart from Kenya, applicant to provide proof of residence e.g work permit/PR/Dependent pass)
• Birth Certificate (If not issued from Kenya/India, it should be attested by Indian Mission in country of birth)
• Parents Birth Certificate (If not issued from Kenya/India, it should be attested by Indian Mission in country of birth)
• Old Indian passport of Grandparents / Renunciation certificate/Domicile certificate/Nativity Certificate
• Marriage certificate
• Copy of spouse passport
• Proof of occupation
• Address proof
• All documents mentioned above must be scanned in high resolution and uploaded after filling the online form

4. 4. ON THE BASIS OF GREAT GRANDPARENTS

• Current Passport (for any other nationality apart from Kenya, applicant to provide proof of residence e.g work permit/PR/Dependent pass)
• Birth Certificate (If not issued from Kenya/India, it should be attested by Indian Mission in country of birth)
• Parents Birth Certificate (If not issued from Kenya/India, it should be attested by Indian Mission in country of birth)
• Grandparent’s Birth certificate (If not issued from Kenya/India, it should be attested by Indian Mission in country of birth)
• Old Indian passport of Great Grandparents / Renunciation certificate/Domicile certificate/Nativity Certificate
• Marriage certificate
• Copy of spouse passport
• Proof of occupation
• Address proof
• All documents mentioned above must be scanned in high resolution and uploaded after filling the online form

5. 5. ON THE BASIS OF SPOUSE

• Current Passport (for any other nationality apart from Kenya, applicant to provide proof of residence e.g work permit/PR/Dependent pass)
• Birth Certificate (If not issued from Kenya/India, it should be attested by Indian Mission in country of birth)
• Marriage Certificate (If issued in Kenya, it should be attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kenya. If the marriage certificate is issued in another country, it should be attested by the Indian Mission in that country)
• Old/Current Indian passport of spouse / spouse’s parents / Renunciation certificate/Domicile certificate/Nativity Certificate
• Spouse passport
• Spouse OCI card
• If spouse is not Indian, provide all documents used to obtain OCI by spouse, refer to clause 1,2,3 or 4
• Proof of occupation
• Address proof
• Joint affidavit mentioning passport details, Marriage details and in the case of death or divorce the OCI should be surrendered to the nearest mission
• Consent letter from spouse
